Millennials are usually referred to individuals who have reached adulthood around the turn of the 21st century. They are the generation who have been exposed to an unprecedented amount of technology in their upbringing. They grew up with computers, the internet and the graphical user interface. This familiarity makes them adept at understanding interfaces and visual languages.
They tend to adjust readily to new programme, operating systems and devices and to perform computer-based tasks more quickly than older generations.
In schooling, today technology has strongly influenced Millennials in terms of Communication and education. It is predicted that by the time our first group of PMA students enter the work force, digital technology would be an aspect of almost all career paths. Students attending the school in the year 2019 will be considered post millennial students. They must be prepared now to function locally as well globally in this new era.
What is the primary vision of Post Millennial Academy?
Our vision is to become the leading educational institution in Antigua and Barbuda dedicated to the total development of the child, through the imparting of knowledge and teaching of skills necessary for the child’s successful participation in the local and global society.
How does PMA differ from other schools?
Technology is the strongest pillar that differentiates us from all other primary schools. Our website is designed to be the hub between teacher/parent, teacher student communication. Our mode of pedagogical delivery using white boards and subsequently smart boards are in keeping with this new era.
What time should students arrive at school?
7.55 a.m. is the recommended arrival time. However, the gate will be opened at 7:30 a.m. Students who arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. should assemble in the corridors in front of the administration office to ensure supervision.
Is an after-school care/programme provided and if yes what is the cost?
Yes, there will be an after school programme, which will run from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The fee for this service is to be determined.
What happens if my child is sick at school?
Parents are encouraged to keep sick children at home. Students who become ill while at school will be kept in a Sick Bay for a brief period until parents can pick them up. Minor injuries are treated at school but, parents will be contacted when the injury or illness requires further attention.
Can my child wear jewelry in school?
For safety reasons it is advised that children should not wear any jewelry in school. However, they may wear a wristwatch and girls who have pierced ears, may wear a small stud earring.
