According to Herbert and Sears {n. d} there are three main approaches to fitting citizenship education into the curriculum. In one of these approaches education is believed to be situated in the social studies programme which is intended to teach children social issues and concerns, skills development, education of values and attitudes, and social participation .These suggested disciplines are expected to prepare students to be productive, responsible, tolerant, critical thinkers and decision makers who will interact positively among their groups.
